New Jersey S3462 requires high school students to receive financial literacy instruction, expanding the current mandate that only applies to middle school students. The instruction must cover topics such as budgeting, savings, credit, debt, insurance, investment, behavioral economics, banking, consumer skills, taxes, college financial planning, and accounting. The Commissioner of Education will provide school districts with sample instructional materials and resources. Instruction must be taught by a teacher holding an appropriate endorsement.
