Introduced Text

New Jersey S3456 incorporates boardwalks into the transportation local aid program and provides grants for boardwalk projects.

New Jersey S3456 amends the definition of public highways to include boardwalks and promenades. It also modifies the State transportation local aid program formula to include boardwalk mileage in the distribution of county and municipal aid. The bill requires the Commissioner of Transportation to provide at least $4 million per year in grants from the Local Aid Infrastructure Fund for boardwalk projects from fiscal years 2026 through 2031. This fund is a discretionary grant pool for projects not covered by other local aid program categories.
