The bill establishes a two-year Urgent Care Facility Behavioral Health Pilot Program in New Jersey. The Department of Human Services (DHS) will select managed care organizations to contract with six hospitals, two in each of the northern, central, and southern regions of the state, to provide integrated behavioral health care within one of the hospital’s urgent care facilities. The goal is to stabilize individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, reducing unnecessary emergency department and inpatient admissions.
