New Jersey S3340 allows counties to establish a central municipal drug court to handle specific drug-related offenses.

New Jersey S3340 permits counties to establish a central municipal drug court. This court would have jurisdiction over crimes of the fourth degree, disorderly persons offenses, and petty disorderly persons offenses related to controlled dangerous substances. Juveniles may be referred to this court by the Presiding Judge of the Family Part of Superior Court. The bill allows for community service or sentencing to a drug treatment program as an alternative to incarceration.
