This bill allows retired law enforcement officers who retired due to disability to receive tuition assistance for attending public institutions of higher education or proprietary institutions licensed to confer academic degrees. The State will reimburse the tuition costs not covered by federal and State student grants and scholarships. To qualify, the retired officer must have retired due to disability, applied for all available federal and State student grants and scholarships, and be enrolled in good standing. The tuition assistance allows for up to 16 credits per semester.
