Introduced Text

New Jersey S3209 mandates municipal preliminary approval for operating community group homes.

New Jersey S3209 amends existing law to require applicants for a license to operate a community group home to first obtain a certificate of preliminary approval from the appropriate municipal officials. This approval must confirm that the proposed home complies with all applicable municipal ordinances and regulations, including zoning and land use rules. The Department of Human Services will not approve a license application without this certificate.
