New Jersey S3192 allows law enforcement officers currently enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) to transfer to the Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS). Officers can choose to waive their rights and benefits under PERS to make the transfer. The Public Employees' Retirement System must remit all accumulated deductions and the pro-rata part of the reserve fund to PFRS within specified periods. The transferred employees will have the same contribution obligations and rights as other PFRS members.
