S.3142

Prohibits selection of health insurance coverage as primary under personal injury protection coverage.

Chamber Passed·3/23/26
Introduced Text

New Jersey S3142 prohibits selecting health insurance as primary coverage under personal injury protection.

New Jersey S3142 amends personal injury protection coverage rules by prohibiting the selection of health insurance as primary coverage. Instead, it mandates that personal injury protection coverage of the named insured be the primary coverage for the named insured and any resident relatives in the named insured's household who are not named insureds under an automobile insurance policy of their own. The bill also removes the option for health insurance to be the primary payer for personal injury protection coverage.
