Establishes a three-year Gun Court Pilot Program in Passaic County to handle cases involving guns or dangerous weapons.

This bill creates a three-year Gun Court Pilot Program in the Superior Court in Passaic County. The Administrative Office of the Courts would administer the program, which can refer any criminal case involving a gun or other dangerous weapon to the Gun Court. Judges assigned to the Gun Court must have extensive knowledge of and experience in criminal law, criminal procedure, and criminal sentencing, particularly in relation to violent crime. Decisions made by the Gun Court judges are binding and subject to appeal to the Appellate Division of the Superior Court.
