New Jersey S3059 allows owners of passenger automobiles and motorcycles to display only one rear license plate.

New Jersey S3059 makes the use of a front registration plate optional for certain vehicles, specifically passenger automobiles and motorcycles. Owners who were previously issued two plates can return one to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission free of charge. Additionally, vehicle owners can request to receive only one registration plate for the rear of their vehicle. This act will take effect 30 days after its enactment.
