Increases penalties for second or subsequent stalking or harassment offenses and for first offense of harassment.

New Jersey S3010 amends the law to increase penalties for stalking and harassment offenses. It makes harassment a crime of the fourth degree, punishable by up to 18 months imprisonment, a fine of up to $10,000, or both. For a first offense of harassment, the penalty is increased to a crime of the fourth degree. A person convicted of a second or subsequent offense of stalking or harassment is guilty of a crime of the third degree, punishable by a mandatory minimum term of three years imprisonment without eligibility for parole.
