The bill expands the scope of the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman to oversee all long-term care residents, not just the elderly. It updates statutory references to reflect this change and removes references to "patients" and "clients" of a facility. The ombudsman is tasked with investigating complaints, recommending actions to relevant agencies, and reporting annually to the Governor and Legislature. The ombudsman can also propose regulations, assist in developing volunteer programs, and establish an annual training program for long-term care facility staff.
