New Jersey S2974 amends existing domestic violence training requirements by adding training on coercive control for judges and law enforcement officers. Municipal court judges will receive training on issuing temporary restraining orders in emergencies, while Superior Court judges will receive supplemental training on issuing and enforcing restraining orders. Law enforcement officers will be trained on handling domestic violence and abuse of the elderly and disabled. The training curriculum will be reviewed and modified every two years.
