Introduced Text

New Jersey S2901 allows high school student-athletes to substitute study hall for physical education during their sport's season.

New Jersey S2901 permits public high school students in grades 10, 11, or 12 who participate in school-sponsored sports to replace their physical education class with a study hall during the sport's season. This substitution applies only to student-athletes and requires written approval from their parent or guardian. The coach must also certify the student's participation in the sport. This bill does not exempt students from the requirement to attend health and safety education courses or affect physical education requirements for younger students or non-athletes.
