New Jersey S2770 provides an accidental death benefit for members of the Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund who die from COVID-19. This benefit applies if the member contracted COVID-19 during the public health emergency declared by the Governor in Executive Order No. 103 of 2020 and died as a result of the virus. The bill also provides health care benefits coverage for the member and their dependents through the School Employees' Health Benefits Program, with the state paying the full cost of the premium for five years. The filing of an accident report is not required for this benefit.
