Introduced Text

New Jersey S2620 requires the State to cover partial transportation costs for homeless students attending school in a district other than their.

New Jersey S2620 mandates that the State cover partial transportation costs for homeless students attending school in a district other than their residence. Specifically, if a homeless child attends school in a district different from their residence, the district of residence must cover tuition and transportation costs. However, if the child has resided in a domestic violence shelter, homeless shelter, or transitional living facility for over a year in a district other than their residence, the State will cover transportation costs exceeding the average per pupil cost for that district.
