This bill provides an additional $500,000 to the Department of Health for the Huntington's Disease Grant Program. This funding will support grants to institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, and research organizations in New Jersey. These grants will be used for pre-symptomatic testing, neurology and psychiatry services, neurophysiological evaluations, treatment, disease management, and counseling for people living with or at risk for Huntington's disease. The disease affects approximately 900 to 1,200 New Jersey residents and there are about 7,000 at-risk individuals.
