New Jersey S259 mandates the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to establish a leasing program for State-owned land to be used and managed as pollinator habitat. The DEP, in consultation with the Department of Agriculture, will adopt rules and regulations for identifying suitable State-owned lands and selecting entities to lease, develop, use, and manage these lands. This includes criteria for selecting appropriate entities such as individuals, local government units, nonprofit organizations, or other qualified entities.
