S.2565

Permits victims and witnesses of human trafficking to testify in criminal proceedings via closed circuit television; permits judge to make motion to seek closed circuit testimony.

Chamber Passed·6/30/26

New Jersey S2565 allows victims and witnesses of human trafficking to testify via closed circuit television in criminal proceedings.

New Jersey S2565 expands the use of closed circuit television for victims and witnesses of human trafficking to testify in criminal proceedings. Currently, this option is available for victims and witnesses of sexual offenses. The bill also allows a trial judge to request closed circuit testimony. If the victim or witness is under 18, the audio recording of the testimony is confidential and not public unless the court orders otherwise. The video portion of the testimony is not recorded and does not become part of the record on appeal.
