Establishes third degree crime for certain trespasses involving victim of domestic violence.

New Jersey S2553 amends the criminal code to establish a third degree crime for entering the dwelling of a domestic violence victim protected by a restraining order, intending to cause annoyance, injury, or to commit a crime. The bill presumes intent if a restraining order is in place or if the actor has been convicted or charged with a domestic violence offense involving the victim. The offense carries a penalty of three to five years imprisonment, a fine of up to $15,000, or both.
