This bill expands the duties of Class Three special law enforcement officers to include providing security in places of religious worship, such as churches, mosques, synagogues, and temples. It also allows nonpublic schools to use their nonpublic security aid to finance the appointment of Class Three officers. These officers, appointed by local police departments, are authorized to exercise full powers and duties similar to those of full-time police officers while providing security in schools, county colleges, and now places of worship.
