New Jersey S2380 allows school mental health professionals to refer students to private counselors for mental health services.

New Jersey S2380 permits student assistance coordinators, school psychologists, and other mental health professionals in school districts to refer students to private licensed counselors for mental health assessments and services. This includes psychiatrists, social workers, and psychologists. If the student cannot consent, the parent or guardian must be notified and consent before services are provided. Neither the school district nor the referring professional bears the cost of these services.
