The New Jersey First Responders Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Protection Act establishes employment protections for paid first responders diagnosed with work-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Employers are prohibited from discharging, harassing, or discriminating against employees who take or request leave related to a qualifying PTSD diagnosis. Employers must reinstate employees to their previous positions upon documented fitness to return to work.
