New Jersey S2341 requires physicians and certain hospital employees to complete training on communication with and treatment of persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. The State Board of Medical Examiners must include one credit on communication and treatment in continuing medical education for physicians. The Division of Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Department of Human Services will create a training and outreach unit for emergency department staff in general hospitals. This act takes effect 90 days after enactment.
