New Jersey S2195 provides businesses with tax credits for employing apprentices in Department of Labor registered apprenticeships. The credit is $1,000 per apprentice per taxable year, with an additional $2,000 credit if the apprentice is a veteran, was eligible for certain assistance programs, is a displaced worker, or was previously incarcerated. An additional $2,000 credit is available if the apprentice belongs to a group underrepresented in their career field. These credits are additive, potentially totaling $5,000 per qualifying apprentice.
