Introduced Text

New Jersey S2170 mandates the Department of Education to maintain a list of textbook vendors using inclusive material and requires school districts.

New Jersey S2170 requires the Department of Education to develop and maintain a list of textbook vendors that incorporate inclusive material in their textbooks. This list will be distributed to school districts and made publicly available on the department’s website. When a school district decides to acquire a new textbook, it must select from a vendor on the department’s list. However, a school district may propose a vendor not on the list to the Commissioner of Education, who can approve the use of textbooks from that vendor.
