Introduced Text

Establishes a 90-day pilot program for ballistics analysis devices in New Jersey's 10 municipalities with the highest violent crime rates.

The bill mandates the Attorney General to create a 90-day pilot program in the 10 municipalities with the highest violent crime rates, according to the latest Uniform Crime Report data. Each participating local law enforcement agency will receive a ballistics scanning device to use in their evidentiary and firearm intelligence processes. After the pilot program, law enforcement agencies must submit a report to the Attorney General detailing their use of the devices and recommending their continued use.
