New Jersey S2147 makes homeowner real estate sales subject to the consumer fraud act.

New Jersey S2147 amends the consumer fraud act to include sales of real estate by homeowners. This bill makes various fraudulent practices in connection with the sale or advertisement of real estate, including by homeowners, an unlawful practice. This change expands the scope of the consumer fraud act, which previously only applied to commercial or professional sales of real estate. Violations can result in penalties, cease and desist orders, punitive damages, treble damages, and costs to the injured party.
