S.2116

Provides that organ donor designation on driver's license or identification card remains upon renewal of license or card under certain circumstances.

Introduced·1/9/24

New Jersey S2116 ensures organ donor designation remains on driver's license or ID upon renewal unless removed.

New Jersey S2116 amends existing law to ensure that an individual's organ donor designation on their driver's license or identification card remains in effect upon renewal, unless the individual specifically removes the designation. The Chief Administrator of the Motor Vehicle Commission must provide the opportunity to remove the designation during the renewal process. The bill also mandates the chief administrator to offer an annual education program for commission employees about organ and tissue donation benefits and procedures.
