The Securing Access to Funding for Educating Drivers (SAFE) Act establishes the New Jersey Behind-The-Wheel Driver Education Scholarship Program within the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. The program aims to provide scholarships to eligible individuals from low-income households to cover the costs of the six-hour behind-the-wheel driver education course. Scholarships will be awarded to residents aged 16-17 who are from low-income households and have passed the required written examination. The scholarships will cover the full cost of the course or $500, whichever is less.
