New Jersey S1861 bans foreign ownership of agricultural or horticultural land and agricultural woodlands in the state.

New Jersey S1861 prohibits any foreign government or foreign person from acquiring, purchasing, or obtaining a legal interest in agricultural or horticultural land or agricultural woodlands in the state after the bill's effective date. Exceptions include ownership through devise or descent or a bona fide encumbrance for security purposes. Foreign owners of such land on the bill's effective date must sell or convey the land within five years, attaching a deed of easement to maintain the land for agricultural or horticultural use or as agricultural woodlands.
