New Jersey S1820 requires the Department of Health to maintain an emergency stockpile of insulin and authorizes dispensing of emergency insulin.

New Jersey S1820 mandates the Department of Health (DOH) to maintain an emergency stockpile of insulin to meet the needs of individuals whose insulin supply is depleted before their next prescription can be filled. The stockpile must include the 10 most common brands and types of insulin used by New Jersey residents. The DOH will collaborate with the Commissioner of Banking and Insurance to determine which insulin brands and types are most commonly used.
