Introduced Text

New Jersey S1810 creates a general barbering license and apprenticeship, and limits barbering training hours.

New Jersey S1810 amends the state's cosmetology and hairstyling laws to introduce a general barbering license and a two-year barbering apprenticeship. A general barber can perform services such as shampooing, cutting, and shaving facial hair, as well as massaging and cleansing the face. The apprenticeship requires completion of courses in sanitation and safety. After completing the apprenticeship, individuals can apply for a general barbering license.
