S.1763

Clarifies which health care professional may provide documentation to school district of need for home instruction due to student's health condition.

Introduced·1/9/24

New Jersey S1763 allows advanced practice nurses to provide documentation for home instruction due to a student's health condition.

New Jersey S1763 clarifies that an advanced practice nurse can provide the necessary documentation to a school district for home instruction when a student has a temporary or chronic health condition. Previously, only a physician could provide this documentation. This change allows parents or guardians to request home instruction with a written determination from either the student's physician or an advanced practice nurse. The provisions apply to instances exceeding 10 consecutive or 20 cumulative school days during the school year.
