S.1642

New Jersey S1642 allows public institutions of higher education to assess waivable fees for legislative agents and organizations on student tuition.

New Jersey S1642 amends current law to permit public institutions of higher education to assess funds for legislative agents and organizations as waivable fees on student tuition bills. These fees, which are not mandatory, must be clearly marked as optional and students must be informed that they can waive the fee. The bill removes the requirement for a student referendum to authorize such fees, allowing them to appear on tuition bills without prior student approval. The presence of these fees does not indicate endorsement by the institution's governing body.
