New Jersey S1608 amends the eligibility criteria for certain civil service and pension benefits for veterans. It removes the requirement that a veteran must have served during specific wars or other periods of emergency, and in certain instances, that a veteran must have served in a war zone. Instead, the bill requires federal active service in any branch of the United States Armed Forces or a Reserve component thereof.
