New Jersey S1585 introduces a ranked-choice voting procedure for primary and general elections for Governor, State Senate, State General Assembly, United States Senate, and House of Representatives, as well as presidential primaries and general elections for electors for President and Vice-President. Under this procedure, voters rank candidates in order of preference. In single-winner elections, if a candidate reaches 50 percent of the votes plus one, that candidate is elected.
