New Jersey S148 authorizes the creation and issuance of a temporary Declaration of Independence 250th Anniversary commemorative license plate. The New Jersey Historical Commission is required to establish a design contest for the license plate, with participants submitting designs that represent New Jersey and commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission will issue one commemorative plate per vehicle, which will not include a registration number and will be displayed for two years starting January 1, 2026.
