The New Jersey bill makes $1.3 billion in federal funds available to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for lead service line replacement projects. These funds, sourced from the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund or other COVID-19 response funds, are to be used in conjunction with the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing Program and the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank. The DEP can use up to one percent of the funds for administrative expenses.
