New Jersey S1439 amends the state's vehicular homicide laws to mandate that a person convicted of reckless vehicular homicide while driving under the influence must pay restitution for the financial support of any minor child of the deceased parent or guardian. The court must order the defendant to pay financial support until the child reaches 18 years of age or graduates from high school, whichever occurs later, or until the child reaches 21 years of age if the child has a mental or physical disability. The financial support must continue for at least five years.
