The bill establishes the Office of Clean Energy Equity within the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to oversee the equitable deployment of clean energy, energy efficiency, and energy storage programs in overburdened communities. It mandates the BPU to allocate at least 10% of its annual clean energy budget, or $50 million, to the office. The BPU is directed to create standards for solar energy projects, including capacity limits and geographic restrictions, and to establish a Community Solar Energy Pilot Program.
