Revises penalty for criminal trespassing while carrying a firearm in New Jersey.

This bill revises the penalty for criminal trespassing while carrying a firearm in New Jersey. It elevates the offense to a crime of the third degree if the person possesses a firearm, regardless of whether they hold a valid permit to carry a handgun. The offense is punishable by three to five years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to $15,000, or both. Additionally, it makes trespassing with a firearm in certain locations a crime of the fourth degree, punishable by up to 18 months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
