New Jersey S1281 prohibits the sale, manufacture, and distribution of apparel containing intentionally added perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) within the state. The ban applies to clothing items intended for regular wear or formal occasions, including undergarments, shirts, pants, dresses, swimwear, and diapers, as well as outdoor apparel. Personal protective equipment, military clothing, and motorcycle or off-highway vehicle gear are exempt. The prohibition takes effect two years after the bill's enactment.
