New Jersey S1228 requires public schools to develop policies for the emergency administration of nasal seizure rescue medication and the use of manual vagus nerve stimulators for students with seizure disorders. The school nurse must have primary responsibility for administering these treatments. The Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Health, will establish guidelines for these policies. Schools must also train additional employees to administer these treatments when the school nurse is not present.
