Introduced Text

New Jersey S1195 mandates safety features on school buses for students with special needs.

New Jersey S1195 requires school buses transporting students with special needs to be equipped with an integrated electronic seat belt alert system and a barcode system for post-trip inspections. The alert system detects unfastened or improperly fastened seat belts and notifies the driver both audibly and visually. The barcode system ensures no student is left on the bus by scanning unique barcodes placed on the interior and exterior of the bus.
