Introduced Text

Expands eligibility for veterans' gross income tax exemptions to include all veterans of the Uniformed Services of the United States.

This bill amends New Jersey's tax code to expand eligibility for certain veterans' gross income tax exemptions. Currently, only veterans of the Armed Forces, a reserve component, or the National Guard of New Jersey in federal active duty status qualify for a $6,000 exemption. The bill extends this exemption to include veterans of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). This change recognizes the contributions of all veterans who have served and defended the nation.
