The bill establishes a three-year nonpublic school pupil transportation pilot program in Ocean County to provide funding to a county consortium of nonpublic schools. This consortium will assume responsibility for mandated nonpublic school busing. The Commissioner of Education will disburse funds to the consortium for each nonpublic school pupil attending a school in the consortium and required by law to be transported by a school district. The consortium will assume all transportation responsibilities and assets and liabilities from a previous consortium.
