New Jersey S1136 amends existing laws to provide incentives for district energy collaboratives (DECs) and certain combined heat and power facilities. The bill mandates the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to issue grants for projects installing or expanding combined heat and power facilities owned or operated by commercial and industrial energy pricing class customers. DECs connected to the distribution system can earn eligible energy credits or other incentives when using Class I and Class II renewable energy.
