New Jersey S1131 allows dismissal of certain motor vehicle violations if corrected and documented before court date.

New Jersey S1131 amends state law to permit dismissal of certain motor vehicle violations if the defendant corrects the issue and provides acceptable documentation before their scheduled court appearance. If the defendant fails to provide acceptable documentation, the fine for the violation is collected in full. Acceptable documentation includes repair invoices, photographs, or receipts. The bill also allows for the collection of court costs up to a specified amount or a percentage of the fine, whichever is less.
