Allows municipalities to credit transitional housing for veterans toward affordable housing obligations.
This bill authorizes the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) to credit municipalities with 1.5 units of fair share affordable housing obligation for each unit of transitional housing occupied by a veteran. Transitional housing is defined as housing with supportive services to help individuals and families move to permanent housing within 24 months. Each unit must be affordable for at least 10 years. This credit applies to veterans with active service in time of war and low or moderate income.
